Did I Call It or What?

The first movie I have reviewed for this Blog has been listed in Hollywood.com’s, 2007 Oscar Watch: The Best Picture Race. Great minds think alike, huh? Robert Redford

At about this time every year, the Hollywood.coms, Extras, ETs, etc. of the entertainment world begin predicting which movies they feel have potential for an oscar nod (or 2 or 3….). Hollywood.com’s list includes such movies as In The Valley of Elah (with Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (with Cate Blanchette), Michael Clayton (with George Clooney), American Gangster (with Denzel Washington), Lions for Lambs (with Robert Redford), amongst many others – some that have yet to be released and some that have already been; most that I personally want to see…especially Lions for Lambs.

Lions is already a bonafide hit, at least in my book. Directed by Robert Redford and starring Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, and Redford, Lions is a movie about three interloping stories involving numerous characters all centered around the War on Terrorism. Redford plays a college professor in favor of defending our country. Cruise is a Senator about to unleash an interesting story to an eager journalist played by Streep, a story that may affect the lives of the students that Redford influences to join the war efforts.

If it’s a Redford film, it’s guaranteed some kind of Oscar nod. Whether it be for direction, acting, script writing, cinematography, etc. Redford’s films almost always not only earn nominations, they also tend to win in most of the categories they are nominated for. Quite frankly, I can assuredly say that I personally am never disappointed in them either. In other words, they deserve the nominations they get.

Looks like I’ll have plenty of movies to see (and reviews to give) as the Fall continues on. So, be on the lookout!

Oh and by the way…I haven’t seen Berkeley or Sleuth as yet but don’t you worry, I will and you’ll see my review for those too!

Until next time…see YOU at the movies!

Lisa :)
