The first holiday movie of the season, Fred Claus, starring Vince Vaughn debuted at #3 behind Bee Movie and American Gangster, respectively. Gangster fell to #2 after debuting at #1 with its $56 million+ last week. Bee Movie rose to #1 after debuting at #2 last week also with roughly $56 million of the pot last week as well. What does that tell you? Probably not much but in my opinion, I’m thinking that Gangster will continue to slide down as more family-friendly movies begin to take to the screens this holiday season.

Another movie of note, Lions for Lambs, debuted at #4 with only $6.7 million in revenue. Ouch! A movie that’s supposed to be in the running for Oscar come February didn’t fare so well with movie goers, now did it? The cast is phenomenal – headed up by Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, and Robert Redford (with Redford also directing). I predicted this movie as one of the Oscar contenders. Could I be wrong?

Rounding out the Top 5 is Dan in Real Life starring Steve Carell. Only three weeks into its release, it continues to slide down the list and it’s only made just over $30 million in box office revenue TOTAL. *insert shocked smiley face here* I like Steve Carell. I think he is a very talented guy. Perhaps this wasn’t the best choice in movie for him? I don’t know. I haven’t seen it yet. I’m just concerned about the fact that it’s only made $30 million so far. Another OUCH!

If you haven’t seen the trailer for Bee Movie (quite frankly, I don’t know where you’ve been if you haven’t), I’ve added it below (thanks to cinemaniaweb at You Tube) . Take a look at the list (above) again. There’s a reason that Bee made it’s way to the top this week. I have a funny feeling that it will remain there for a little while longer too.

Until next time, see YOU at the movies ~Lisa :)

We definitely need to take our son to see Bee Movie… I’m wondering about Fred Claus… maybe not so good for a 4 year old?

Probably not. I’m going to see it probably on Wednesday night this week. Check back for my review. :)
