Lisa’s Top 10 Holiday Movies of All Time (so far that is)

On a climactic moment on Thanksgiving Day, Santa made his entrance as the final presentation of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Matt Lauer of NBC’s Today Show quipped something along the lines of, “The holiday season has officially begun,” as Santa made his entrance. Now, I don’t know if Santa’s presence at the end of the largest parade in country officially marks the beginning of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season but for me, it does. I watch the Parade every year and every year after its over, I feel the holiday spirit embrace me. So, what better way to celebrate the season then to give you my run down of my version of the “Top 10″ Holiday Movies of All time…well…so far anyway. :)

Christmas Vacation#10 National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)

This is the silliest, stupidest (who cares if it’s not a word!), most ridiculous, and funniest movie of the holiday season. Starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, this is a true Christmas classic.

Holiday Inn#9 Holiday Inn (1942)

An oldie but goodie. Holiday Inn stars two of the greatest movie stars of all time, Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Just writing those two names alone makes me smile. Bing wants the girl. Fred wants the girl. And it all takes place at a Supper Club, Holiday Inn. It’s genuine old Hollywood film and I love it!

Elf#8 Elf (2003)

Just thinking about the images of Will Ferrell in the title role as he’s portraying it, I start a gigglin’! This is one of the cutest and funniest holiday movies I have ever seen. Elf is a holiday classic in my personal film library. If you haven’t seen it yet, you are truly missing out!

Die Hard#7 Die Hard (1988)

Yeah, I realize this is a bit on the violent side but it’s a fun movie to watch! Die Hard stars Bruce Willis and Bonnie Bedelia as a married couple just trying to come together at Christmas. The only problem is one is stuck with a group of terrorists and the other is the hero that eventually rescues her. Aww come on! I know some of you like this one too. :)

White Christmas#6 White Christmas (1954)

Another Holiday classic in the tradition of old-time Hollywood, White Christmas stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Rosemary Clooney. Two performance acts team up to save a failing Vermont inn. There are romantic mix ups and some wonderful song and dance. Brings a :) to your face!

Grinch#5 How the Grinch Stole Christmas (200)

Headed by an all-star cast consisting of Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Molly Shannon, and Jim Carey (in the title role), this is sure to be a Holiday classic as the years continue on. I absolutely loved this movie when it came out and I have watched it every year since. It’s a holiday staple in my house!

I have four more left but I think I’m going to leave you guessing for a day or two. What do YOU think are my Top 4 movies? Leave a comment! I’m anxious to see if anyone comes close. ;)

I LOVE this post…I actually referenced my #1 favorite…Christmas vacation in my blog.

It’s a wonderful Life is my husbands.

I also love Charlie Brown Christmas.

When will you share the top 4? They have to include these.

Oh, almost forgot. You have inspired us to watch Elf tonight since we already watched Christmas vacation last night (1 of 10 viewings this holiday season)

I see you like the old Hollywood films. Good for you! Some of the best films ever made were produced back in my day. However, I have to admit, I’m a sucker for A Christmas Story too.

Hmmm, this is tough. It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, The Santa CLause, and Miracle on 34th Street.

I must say, White Christmas is my all-time favorite Christmas movie. I watch it about a dozen times during the Christmas season. And it’s impossible not to love Holiday Inn if you love White Christmas.

I hope you chose “A Christmas Story”. It’s definitely my favorite. Some great moments:

“You’ll shoot your eye out kid”
“It’s a major award”
“Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian”
“Uh, I think that says FRAGILE, dear”
“Deck the halls with boughs of horry, ra ra ra ra ra, ra ra ra ra!”

LOL!!! Great response and opinons
