As predicted, the Will Smith film, I Am Legend, made the Top 5. Not only that but as you can see, debuted at #1. I saw the film and will be adding my review of it today.
Also as predicted, another widely-anticipated Christmas film released this weekend, Alvin and the Chipmunks, made it to the Top 5, debuting at #2.
Although, the Golden Compass slipped to #3 and Enchanted to #4, I have to wonder how next weekend’s Box Office Results will fair. Will Compass continue it’s slide? Will Enchanted stay in the Top 5? My prediction – yes and yes – but we’ll have to see.
In a surprising move, the critically acclaimed No County for Old Men, rose a notch to make it into the Top 5 for the first time since it’s release. I’ll venture to guess that with its Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture – Drama, it had to have helped it along a little.
Now…next weekend there should be some twists and turns as the anticipated blockbusters and Golden Globe nominated films - Charlie Wilson’s War, Sweeney Todd, and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story – are released. In addition, the second film in the National Treasure series National Treasure: Book of Secrets is also scheduled to hit the theaters. Like I said, it should be interesting.
Until next time, see YOU at the movies!
