I walked passed my local theater this weekend and I was wondering why on EARTH it was so busy? I think the results speak for themselves.
The Bucket List starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson debuted at #1 at wide-release. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the film too. Also in its first weekend in release and debuting at #2 was First Sunday starring rapper, Ice Cube. Juno seems to hold steady in the Top Five sliding down a notch to #3.
I was actually happy to see that National Treasure: Book of Secrets, I Am Legend, and Alvin & the Chipmunks were all finally knocked down a few pedestals. Still when looking at the total gross of the top film, it doesn’t compare to what the more recent box office hits have pulled in during their first weeks in release. I don’t know what that says about the immediate future of film releases but you can bet the Writer’s Strike has probably started to have some effect on Hollywood filming too.
