Hollywood and Social Media
The other day I was drawn to a particular blog post by a former colleague of mine, Wayne Sutton. He is a social media guru (Wayne, I’m not worthy. I’m not worthy!). He gets the system and uses it to further his interests. Whether it be to gain clients, provide a service, network with others, it doesn’t matter. Wayne just gets it.
Well, in his post, he talked about the future of the film industry and the impact social media has on it. I found his thoughts to be inspiring. I mean, how many times have I gone to You Tube looking for a particular clip, a trailer, a celebrity?
Hollywood is already riding the social media wave. You can find most of your favorite actors on My Space, many are on Facebook too (a couple of them are even my “friends”), and now some are using Twitter to communicate with their audience. I went searching for which actors and actresses are on the newest social media craze and I found that Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Luke Wilson, and Jimmy Fallon are just a few of the celebs tweeting about “what they’re doing”. The next time you want to know what Tina Fey is having for lunch, just check her Twitter site -
Am I eating a Caramello bar for lunch? Yes. Yes I am.
Not only are the stars using Twitter, the SAG Awards, the Golden Globes, and even the Oscars all have their own Twitter feeds. (Although, I can’t seem to locate the Oscars 2009 feed anywhere. Did they give up?)
By the way, follow me at my Twitter site on Sunday night as I catch all there is Oscar. I’ll be tweeting my thoughts on celebrity attire, speeches, and of course, the awards themselves all starting with the Red Carpet Arrivals at 6pm on E! Entertainment Television.
For more on Hollywood’s future in social media, check out Wayne’s post.
Until next time, see YOU at the movies!
Lisa
