Sister’s Keeper Thrills
Last weekend, TRBOB let y’all know that the Indy-action thriller starring Raleigh native Kent Faulcon, Sister’s Keeper, was set to premier at Cary’s own Galaxy Cinemas. The Buzz had the chance to converse with Kent and his co-star Denise Boutte. But, before I show you that interview along with the video compilation from the premiere, let me give you the scoop on my impression of the movie.
I really enjoyed it!
Disclaimer – I’m really not much into independent film-making and part of that could just be that I’m so used to the quality associated with BIG budget films. Nevertheless, over the last six months, I have had the opportunity to attend the premiere’s of three films either made right here in the Triangle or, as in this case, produced here and I have to say, I’m aquiring a taste for them. That said, last weekend, I had the chance to attend and view the third of the three films I am talking about and I really did enjoy the movie.
Sister’s Keeper is the story of a military-trained assasin, named Jacob who must elminate one last target in order to leave the circle of death that he’s entangled himself in since the unexpected death of his own family. His target – an unassuming small town southern school teacher by the name of Diane who’s own family environment is currently going through trials and tribulations. There’s one small problem. Upon arriving at Diane’s home to do the deed, she mistakens him for her long-lost brother. From that point forward, everything changes. And, I’d love to tell you how, but that would give away the good stuff!
The film has many elements to it. It’s billed as an action-thriller but it has comedy, drama, and a bit of suspense as well. The comedy lightens up what could have otherwise been a dull film. In other words, the mix of action, suspense, drama, combined with the comedy is what brings the entire film together. While the subject matter is serious in nature, the dynamics between the characters is what brings the comedic elements out. And the audience loved it!
Writer, Director, Producer, and star Kent Faulcon has weaved his way through many popular prime time shows such as Boston Legal, Bones, 24, Desperate Housewives, JAG, and even 7th Heaven. He’s also played alongside Will Smith in the blockbuster film Men in Black. Co-star Denise Boutte is probably best known for her role in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? and in her recurring role on Meet The Browns. Sister’s Keeper is her first stab at being lead actress. Both played their parts brilliantly.
I give the film
Until next time, see YOU at the movies!
