Anne Hathaway As Judy Garland

The resemblance is there.  I’ll give you that.  But, everyone is talking about how her turn on the stage with Hugh Jackman on Oscar night should’ve given the world a clue that she can sing too.  Really?  I have seen many of her movies, none of which though showcase her pipes, that’s if they’re worth being showcased.

Hollywood.com is reporting that Anne Hathaway has agreed to star in both the stage and screen adaptations of the Gerald Clarke-penned 2001 novel Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland.  The mere fact that she is going to portray Garland is impressive but to do it both on stage and screen….WOW!  That will be a feat if she can pull it off.

Don’t get me wrong.  I like Anne.  I think she’s a phenomenal actress.  I hope all this hoopla surrounding her pipes is worth it in the end for her.  Otherwise, she’ll just come across as another ambitious star fallen from the sky.  I don’t want that for her.  I really don’t.

Good luck, Anne.  Knock ‘em dead and prove me wrong.

Until next time, see YOU at the movies!

Lisa :)
