Box Office Results (4/17-4/19)
The REEL Box Office Buzz just returned from vacation only to find an interesting set of numbers for this past week. If you remember correctly, I posed the question – “Who Will Come Out on Top – Hannah or Fast?” at the beginning of last week. I honestly thought with the Miley Cyrus hype, the fact that Hannah Montana: The Movie is produced by Disney, and it was a family weekend, the film had the potential to make the BIG bucks. Obviously, I was wrong. Just two weeks into release and the film has only made $56.1 million. Kinda sad.
Interesting to note that family favorite Monsters Vs. Aliens has surpassed Fast And Furious in Box Office revenue and still remains at #3 on the list.
Not a big Zac Efron fan so I have no desire to see 17 Again. I did take in State of Play yesterday and my review will be up later this week.
Here are the Box Office Results for the weekend ending 4/19/09 as reported by Nielsen:
| Rank | Film Title | Gross | Weeks | Cume |
| 1 | 17 AGAIN | 24.07 | 1 | 24.1 |
| 2 | STATE OF PLAY | 14.10 | 1 | 14.1 |
| 3 | MONSTERS VS. ALIENS | 12.90 | 4 | 162.7 |
| 4 | HANNAH MONTANA THE MOVIE | 12.67 | 2 | 56.1 |
| 5 | FAST AND FURIOUS | 12.29 | 3 | 136.7 |
